Spike’s Club: Mysteries of the Past

Did you know that there was once a snake as long as a school bus or that horses had three toes? Join us as we use paleontology and detective work to solve some amazing mysteries of the past! Each week we’ll work together to solve the mystery of a unique fossil specimen. We’ll get the chance to examine the remains of dinosaurs, trilobites and ancient mammals; just like scientists do! Each session meets once a week for five weeks and focuses on investigating our natural world through science. Students explore our galleries, study museum objects from our collections, play games, get creative with craft and science projects…. And have fun! Participants will receive a special Spike’s Club T-shirt (one shirt per school year). Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Cost: Members $40; Non-Members $50 Registration begins December 1 for Members; December 15 for Non-members Deadline to register 1/23/15

Cadette Girl Scout “Trees” Workshop at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History

Get to the root of what trees are all about! Join us as we discover the connections trees have in our lives. Cadette Scouts will complete requirements for the “Trees” Badge. Cost is $10 per scout. Badge not included. The cost is $10 per scout and includes the workshop and general museum admission. Scouts registering individually are each required to have one adult chaperone. For troop registration, a minimum of one adult chaperone is required per five scouts. Attending chaperones receive complimentary admission. Badges, belt loops and pins are not included. Junior Girl Scout “Entertainment Technology” Workshop

Lights, Camera, Action! Discover the world of green screens and movie magic. Look into the technology and science behind the best on screen scenes. Junior scouts will complete requirements to earn the “Entertainment Technology” badge. Badge not included. The cost is $10 per scout and includes the workshop and general museum admission. Scouts registering individually are each required to have one adult chaperone. For troop registration, a minimum of one adult chaperone is required per five scouts. What is science? We’ll get the chance to find out as we design experiments, discover what scientists do and explore the natural world. Family Workshop: Wild Artist!

Slither, wiggle, trot and waddle. Discover the ways that animals make their mark in the art world by exploring our temporary exhibit Enriched! Paintings by Oklahoma City Zoo Animals. Watch an Oklahoma City Zoo animal create a masterpiece before your eyes! Then get your hands dirty and practice new techniques with your family to make art like the animals do! This event is for children 5 and up with an adult. Advance registration is required and space is limited. On-site registration is not available for this program. Prices include one adult and one child.
