Both sexes with horns (Fig. 71), well developed in males, with forward-projecting prong and recurved tip, females bearing small spikes only; horny sheath shed each year, bony core permanent; dorsal color light fawn, venter and sides white, two white collars on throat (Fig. 71), tail evident, rump patch of brilliant white erectile hairs; no accessory hooves; erectile mane on back of neck
   
Head of males only ornamented with deciduous bony antlers; color reddish, grayish fawn, or white; throat never with more than one white collar patch; tail various, but distinct; rump patch, if present, dull white and not erectile; no erectile mane on back of neck; four hooves on each foot; upper canine present or absent
