 Ears low and rounded, close to the head; tail membrane with the upper side densely haired (Fig. 15a); dorsal hairs with 4 distinct color bands (from base to tip these are black, yellow, some shade of red or brown, and white, with the third band largely determining the overall coloration of the body); total teeth 32, with only one upper and three lower incisors
   
 Ears erect, projecting conspicuously above the crown of the head; upper side of the tail membrane naked or sparsely clothed with hair on basal half (Fig. 13b and Fig. 15b); dorsal hairs two- or three-banded or unicolored; total teeth usually not 32, if 32 then having two upper and three lower incisors
