Positions:

 

Publications & Promotions Specialist - Marketing/PR Specialist I

Full-Time.  $30,000.00.  Req. #21087

Responsible for writing and copy editing of publications. Conducts research and interviews to develop, write and edit newsletters, brochures, catalogs, and other publications. Responsible for management of museum’s social media platforms. Assist with the typeset and design of a large technical book on mammals, including formatting written species accounts and placing them alongside photos, maps, and illustrations to produce an effective and aesthetically pleasing end product. Bachelor’s degree and 12 months experience with writing, editing, graphic design, web page development, marketing, promotions, and public relations or advertising.

Student Education Assistant

Part-Time.  $8.00/hr.  Req. #20954

This is a one-semester position for Spring 2015.

The Student Education Assistant will assist in preparing and facilitating public educational programs at the Sam Noble Museum and gain experience in informal science education instruction, development and museum education.

Primary duties include:
-Assist facilitating programs for youth groups
-Assist with the implementation of workshops and activities for children, such as Spike's Club
-Complete craft preparation and departmental office duties.
-Perform other duties as assigned

Education Instructor

Full-Time (32 hours/wk).  $12.00/hr.  Req. #21196

Responsible for the development, implementation and distribution of the Sam Noble Museum's (SNM) educational outreach program materials, including traveling/online science curricula kits. Assists with implementing teacher professional development workshops, K-12 and general outreach interpretive programs and materials.

This position is an 0.80 FTE, and grant funded.

Undergraduate Collection Asst

Part-Time.  $8.00/hr.  Req. #21202

Responsible for technical & routine care of museum specimens & related records: assists the Collection Manager or Curator in the implementation of collection related projects including specimen inventory, data capture, data verification, & data entry. Performs tasks requiring some organizational skills & the making of some decisions in the application of prescribed procedures. Assists the Collection Manager or Curator in museum collection operations, assists in the care of museum specimens, including sorting and cataloging. Assists in specimen record‐keeping. Performs related duties as assigned.

Student Education Assistant

Part-Time.  $7.50/hr.  Req. #'s 21262 & 21263

Will work with Education staff and volunteers to facilitate the Discovery Room for general visitors and school groups, including some programming.
Will assist with set-up and clean up of classrooms.
Will maintain, repair, and develop educational activities and exhibits.
Will care for a few small live animals.
Will greet school groups.
Other duties as assigned.

Student PR/Marketing Intern

Part-Time.  $9.00/hr.  Req. #'s 21266

The successful intern will:
-size and deliver ads, fliers, posters, rack cards, etc. as needed to promote Museum events and programs
-maintain updated information on Museum lobby signage, and website
-layout membership publication (Tracks) and Museum calendar of events three times per year
-regularly maintain up-to-date information about Museum events on various online calendars
-maintain various databases: mailing list, media contacts, newsletter stories, press clippings, photos
-assist in preparing regular reports on zip codes, coupon usage, printed column inches received in statewide newspapers, and post-reports for special exhibitions
-create story content for Museum's social media, blog, and newsletter
-additional duties as assigned
