Free First Mondays
The museum offers free admission on the first Monday of every month, sponsored by OU Outreach.

Spike's Club Fall 2012
Each session meets once a week for six weeks and focuses on investigating our natural world. Students explore the museum’s galleries, study objects from our collections, get creative with craft and science projects… and have fun! Participants will receive a special Spike’s Club t-shirt (one shirt per school year). Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To enroll, please call (405) 325-1008.
Growing up in Native America
Join us on a journey into North America’s past to learn about the lives of kids just like you! How would you stay warm in the chilly Arctic Circle, or survive in the deserts of the Southwest? Would you farm or hunt? How would you build a house? Discover how indigenous kids did it in this fun and engaging session of Spike’s Club featuring objects from the Selected Works from the James T. Bialac Native American Art Collection exhibit!

Adult Program: Invertebrate Fossil Dig Field Trip
Friday, September 14, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 15, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Invertebrate paleontology curator Dr. Steve Westrop and museum staff will lead an exciting journey into Oklahoma’s Paleozoic past. Explore life in Oklahoma’s ancient oceans through an informative talk on Friday evening with a close-up look at some of the museum’s finest invertebrate specimens. At 9 a.m. Saturday morning, we will travel to the dig site in university vans. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. To enroll, please call (405) 325-1008.

Family Workshop: Walk on the Wild Side!

Join us for an exciting outdoor adventure as Dr. Nick Czaplewski, Staff Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology, demonstrates how to investigate and identify native Oklahoma animal tracks! This is one wild workshop you won’t want to miss! To enroll, please call (405) 325-1008.

Discovery Lab: Dolls, Dancers and Deities (Grades 1 - 3)
Discovery Labs are designed for children and youth who love science, culture and natural history! Participants can explore museum galleries and collections, meet scientists, do real field work and get hands on with crafts and science experiments!
Saturday, November 3, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In this fun workshop, kids will learn about kachinas in Southwestern culture through stories, artifacts and exhibits! They will visit the museum’s new temporary exhibit, Selected Works from the James T. Bialac Native American Art Collection and have a chance to make their own kachina figure.
