Teacher Professional Development
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History has several exciting opportunities this spring for teachers. Participating teachers will receive curricula, professional development credit and lunch. Taking
Everything Outside!
For 3rd through 6th grade teachers
Friday, February 15, 2008, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Take your students outdoors for a fresh place to learn. Get tips
on new ways to use your outdoor classroom area, or any outdoor space
near your school for science, math, language arts, social science,
art, and authentic assessment. Spring or winter, there are lots of
fun and educational ways to take your class outside.
Cost: $15 per

Polar-Palooza Educator
Workshop
For 4th through 12th grade teachers
Tuesday, April 22, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The museum is excited to host this dynamic workshop featuring leading
Arctic and Antarctic scientists. Teachers will participate in activities
that simulate authentic polar science research and bring core concepts
from Earth, life, physical and space science to life. Workshop topics
will include adaptations to cold and dark, ice dynamics and the water
cycle, and why and how the earth warms. This workshop is supported
in part by the National Science Foundation and NASA, and has been
developed by Passport to Knowledge, a national producer of science
programming. All teachers are welcome, however curriculum materials
are designed for grades 4 through 12.
Cost: $10 per person
