What does a museum visit offer your students?
Engaging exhibits that bring science and social science to life!
Oklahoma’s dinosaurs, archaeological past, Native American heritage and ecology are all beautifully showcased in museum galleries. The exhibits are Oklahoma-focused and designed to be accessible to students of every grade level.
Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs!
The Hall of Ancient Life showcases many of Oklahoma’s fantastic dinosaurs, including the largest Apatosaurus in the world and a
Pentaceratops that holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest dinosaur skull.
Natural Wonders of Oklahoma
Walk-through immersion-style dioramas allow students to explore some of Oklahoma’s unique habitats, including a walk-through limestone cave.
How to Hunt a Giant Bison
The Hall of the People of Oklahoma explores how prehistoric people lived in the state as early as 15,000 years ago. The gallery includes full-scale reproductions of 1,200-year-old houses and a dugout canoe.

Educational Programs Your Students Will Love
Our education department staff has developed a range of inquiry-based programs for each grade level. All SNOMNH programs address PASS standards and are taught by professional museum educators. Click here to view descriptions of educational programs.
A Hands-On Discovery Room
The Discovery Room is a place to explore! Kids can help excavate fossils in the simulated dinosaur dig, view live animals, get up close with museum specimens and artifacts, and touch a real mammoth tusk.
Exhibit Interpreters
Trained volunteers in each gallery share stories, touchable specimens and artifacts, and special activities with your students as you explore the museum.
Pre-visit Materials
Let us help you prepare your students for their museum visit! Pre-visit materials include background information, vocabulary lists and classroom activities for each educational program.
Gallery Activities
Our gallery activity booklets include a series of questions that encourage students to think about what they are seeing in each gallery.
Professional Development Opportunities
We offer a variety of workshops for teachers throughout the year.
